Steven Way, CPA, MBA
Presently, a public practicing CPA, Steven provides accounting, systems,
due diligence and tax services to small and medium size businesses.
Steven re-entered public accounting in May of 2003 after many years in
private industry.
Prior to public practice, Steven was the Chief Financial Officer of Flagship
Marinas, providing financial and accounting services of an owned and managed
portfolio that ranged in size from $25 to $65 million in annual revenues.
Steven was responsible for all financial reporting, including GAAP financial
statements. The marina operations encompassed rental real estate, slip
rental, dry boat storage, boat rental, convenience stores, hotels, RV parks,
boat service, and boat sales. He joined Flagship Marinas in 1998 as
Operations Controller, and headed the design of both systems and procedures.
He was promoted to Chief Financial Officer in November of 2000.
From May of 1996 through May of 1998, Steven held contract assignments for GE
Capital, Genesis Capital Advisors and JPN Properties providing tax, accounting,
loan underwriting and project underwriting services for various real estate
ventures.
In March of 1988, Steven joined Pace Realty Corporation as Controller. He
was instrumental in installing and implementing systems to position the company
to meet the reporting needs of an emerging institutional client base, and the
company has continued to evolve as a Dallas area management leader to a very
respectable institutional client base, which include Lasalle Partners, CALPERS,
Merrill Lynch, and many others. During his tenure, the number of units
managed reached over 6,000 units, and the Company has experienced continued
success and growth. Steven received a promotion in 1992 to Vice President,
Investment Services, and performed due diligence and acquisition services for
investors in addition to oversight of accounting functions until he left the
company in May of 1996.
Prior to Pace Realty Corporation, Steven worked two and one half years in public
accounting with Arthur Andersen & Company. In addition to being a
Certified Public Accountant, he has an MBA in Finance and is fluent in Spanish.
